Feldo industrial design distinguishes between fashion design and clothing design with a common goal: to create wearable garments.
But there are key differences between the two professions. In clothing design, practical and useful everyday garments are created, sometimes of a high standard and often utilitarian. Fashion design, on the other hand, is characterised by creating works of wearable art. Clothing design is divided into 3 sectors:
- Haute couture: haute couture clothing designs are individual designs for high-end customers with high standards and high demands.
- Prêt-a-porter: these are generic clothing designs for the general population. They are lines for a slightly higher mass market, with above-average attention and choice in terms of fabrics, cuts and details.
- Mass-market merchandisers: The most in-demand type of clothing design, mass-market merchandisers specialise in creating mass-produced clothing. The same style is reproduced in multiple sizes and colours in large quantities.
Fashion designs from scratch.
Our approach as a FELDO company in fashion design is to start from scratch and draw inspiration from a multitude of sources, such as the individual culture of each country, history, nature or art. Fashion designs can have their own design lines, work on commission for high-end clients or work for elite design companies.
Fashion designs experiment with various materials, often mixing textures, fabrics or even incorporating multimedia elements into their designs. Therefore our fashion designs are drawn by hand, using computer aided drafting software and they can work and rework their designs repeatedly until the desired end product is achieved.
